I was reading a book by Stephen R. Covey called The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. In this book, he organized/summarized 200 years worth of self-development and popular psychology writings and found that there are two concept of self-development: Character Ethics & Personality Ethic. The “Character ethics” covers integrity, industry, humility, and simplicity. On the other hand, “Personality ethics” relates to behavior and attitude.

The seven habits that effective people consistently show are:

1) Be Proactive

This means that you must consitently take responsibility for the decisions that you make in your life. You must not blame your predicament on anything outside of yourself. In any given situation, you have the freedom to choose your response. And these response must be words such as “I will.”

2) Begin with the End in Mind

Encourages the use of your imagination to visualize a future for yourself (positive affirmations). A simple question of, ” what do you want to be when you grow up?”  This is a very important habit because if you don’t make an effort to visualize who you are and what you want in life then you allow outside sources to decide your future.

3) Prioritize

This is possibly the most difficult of all the habits to follow but is self-explanatory. You must accomplish the task that are the most important.

4) Think win/win

Relates to interpersonal leadership that allow everyone to succeed without any losers. Its a frame of mind that you have, which allows everyone you work with to benefit from your interaction. The important traits of a win/win mindset are: integrity, maturity, & abundance mentality.

5) Seek first to understand…then to be understood

Focuses on being a really GOOD listener. When someone is speaking to us, the natural response is to listen autiobiography: agree/disagreeing and asking questions/giving advice from our experience. This is not the proper way to listen.

6) Synergize

Focuses on teamwork. You will accomplish your goal a lot faster by working in team in which allows you and other members to share your individual insights.  By doing this, results previously unseen, are accomplished.

7) Sharpen the Saw

You must improve every aspect of your life such as your physical, social/emotional, mental, and spirituals well being. You must refresh your life so that you can consistently practice the previous six habit. Live your life to the fullest.

Effective Communication has been Cancelled

Effective Communication has been Cancelled

1)      Listen

Be a sponge. The best sponges hold water indefinitely. Up until you are ready to contribute to your network marketing community squeeze some knowledge from your sponge.  Learn from others who are successul and determine what made them successful.

2)      Understand

Value the feedback you receive from others. You must get rid of any biases especially your own. Treasure the value you receive from the feedback more that your own. By doing this, when you are ready to contribute, your input would hold a lot of value to others.

3)      Value

DON’T ever assume certain contributions by certain individuals as being unworthy of your attention. Before you can contribute and respond to what going on in the conversation you have to value everyone involved. There may be a chance where the person you discount could be your golden prospect.

4)      Interpret

You must interpret and evaluate what has previously been said and think about whether any valuable and unique information to offer. If the only thing you are to going to add to the conversation is “Of course I agree” or “No, I disagree” please just the comment to yourself.

5)      Contribute

The most important step in effective communication is to contribute something valuable to the group.  If the conversation focuses on your level of expertise, you must offer your authority and unique opinion. Remember, there are numerous of readers and other writers who are waiting for your input. Once you have contributed to the conversation, you can be sure that you will be heard and will receive a feedback.

If you want more information to increase your value and in turn increase your lead,

researchWhat to research:

4) Outside your industry

5) Products or services

6) New industry technology

7) Competition

Have you ever noticed whenever you click over to a person or company’s website and you see sections, “About Us/Me” or “Our mission,” and many more?  Even my blog has that section. Those sections direct the attention solely on the owner of the site/blog, which is “ME.”

The truth is when people visit your site, they don’t care about a person that talks about themselves (ME). The visitors only care about the person who talks about them (YOU).

Every sentence that you place on your webpage/blog should be about the visitor and not about the owner of the webpage/blog. Case studies has shown that internet visitors have the purpose of visiting your site to accomplish a goal. Your job is to help them accomplish that goal.

Try seeing everything from the visitors POV by:

  • Discussing the problem to your visitors
  • Tell them what to do first, second, third, and so on
  • Assume nothing
  • Anticipate what they’re thinking
  • It is an easier for them to make a more informed decision if you guide them through the process.
  • Always think in terms:  GIVING not TAKING
  • Educate your visitors on how to achieve their goals!

Im not sure if i can make next week.I was reading the Book “Guerrilla Marketing” by Jay Conrad Levinson and one of the topics i ran across was the word commitment. No, Im not talking about the gushy stuff you have with your significant other. Im talking about commitment to marketing.

Commitment, as Mr. Levinson state, is what makes marketing works. You could have an average marketing plan with commitment and you could succeed. But if you have a great marketing plan but no commitment to that plan then will surely fail.

Whether your avenue of marketing is article writing, web 2.0, blog, or ppc you must stay with it no matter what. Imagine if you dropped your ppc plan because you could not make any sales or leads, you would have lost so much money.

The guerrilla marketer listed the response you may possibly get when you place an ad:

1st. person looks at the ad and doesnt see it
2nd. person doesn’t notice it
3rd. person is aware it exist
4th, “Wait remember seeing that ad about that thingy”
5th, “let me read this ad”
6th, the person smells it
7th, reads through it and says “O man!”
8th, “This s**t is in my inbox again”
9th, “Does this mean anything?”
10th, to his neighbor, “Have you tried this stuff?”
11th, “How will this make me money?”
12th, “This sounds interesting..”
—–Lets take a breather—-
13th, “This could be worth something, holy crap its expensive.”
14th, “I’ve wanted to join one of these things in the past”
15th, “I think ill join this group someday”
16th, “Damn! My life sucks! Wait is that a….”
17th, “Let me see if I have enough money to join this MLM”
18th, “Alright…scam or no scam im joining. ”

Most times, you will never know immediately if your marketing plan work. It may take a few months or even a year, but you must stay committed.

What in life do you fear the most? Is it spiders, clowns, or the boogeyman? Regardless of what you may list as your number one fear, the truth is most people in our culture are programmed to fear a thing called FAILURE.

We can all recall a time in our lives when we have wanted or expected one thing instead got a undesired result. We’ve all gone to school and failed a test, suffered a heart-break from a failed relationship, or spent hundreds of dollars to join a home-based business opportunity only fail to produce any form of profit.

The fact is each of these “failures” are not really “failures” but in reality are only poor results or outcome. Every successful individual simply don’t believe in failure and they do not dwell on something that does not work. The success of our culture are not about people who fail but those who are aware that if they try something and it does not give them a desired result then they’ve obtained a learning experience. Using these learning experiences, they take new actions to produce new results.

People who fear failure imagine prematurely of what might not work in advance. This is the reason why they stop the very action that could guarantee accomplishment of what they want. The truth is you can always learn from every experience and succeed in anything you want to do. Those who believe in failure are almost guaranteed a life of mediocrity.

If you have heard of Thomas Edison’s story, then you know that he tried 9,999 times to perfect the light bulb. At one point someone asked him, “Are you going to have 10,000 failures?” He responded, “ I didn’t fail,  I just discovered another way not to invent the electric light bulb.”

Every leaders, masters, and professional athletes all know that if you try something and do not get the desired outcome, its only a feedback for you to use to make finer decisions to produce what you want.

Winston Churchill said it best, “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.”

Please feel free to comment.

1) You are a building an asset

In your network marketing opportunity, you dont own the company or the system.  By branding you are your own unique product.

2) No one can duplicate your asset

You are unique, even if everybody in your business are using the same system, how that system is applied and what results from it cant be duplicated.

3) You will stand out from your fellow competitors

4) We are marketing you individuals

People generally want to deal with a real human being.

5) Personal branding demonstrate leadership

By putting yourself out there it shows you are confident with yourself and not afraid to lead by example. It also show that you know what you are doing and are in complete control.

6) It makes your life so much easier.

If you don’t brand yourself and instead pretend to be someone else, you would have to put in the extra effort to create another persona that would be reflected in everything you do.

7) Attract people with the same mindset.

When you show your personality in your writing or video, you will attract people who share you belief system and values. It also makes it easier to build rapport with your prospects because you may share the same interest.

8)  This will increase your conversion rates with your leads.

So why is personal branding important?

Have you ever gone supermarket only to find yourself the buying the same brand of products consistently?

The same branding concept that the “real world” business use for their products can also be used for personal branding.  Why do we associate with certain products such as Facebook and Apple or certain network marketing leaders such as Mike Dillard(magnetic sponsoring) and Jay Kubassek(carboncopy pro)?

One of the main reasons is the Origins of  how they got they got started. The fact is,  a brand if most often compared to a narrative and it fullfills a human need to understand the origins of the individual.  Whether the story is about how Mike Dillard started out as waiting tables or Jay Kubassek working as muffler specialist, these stories set the stage for the brands that we have come to trust and believe in.

Just look at the most successful brands in the world and the story how they got started is what we think about immediately (United States of America, Thomas Edison, Disney, and many more).

If you are considering of branding YOURSELF,  you must come up with your own personal story of origin. You must also consider WHO you are and WHY you get started in your current business opportunity.

Remember you can not ask someone to trust or believe in what you do unless you started somewhere. The question of “Where did you come from?” must be answered or you risk people losing interest.

Remember, the story of origin is an important step in answering why people should care about you or your product or your service. It not only answers who you are and where you are from but also further your relationship with your viewers and prospects.
